Are you a seasoned legal professional ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and international environment? Nikon Europe is on the lookout for an experienced Manager Legal to manage the legal team and drive strategic initiatives that safeguard and empower our business operations across the continent. In your role you will report to the Sr. General Manager Legal & Compliance.

Your Mission:

You will play a pivotal role in managing and mitigating legal risks while providing expert legal support to Nikon’s European operations. You will oversee a talented legal team (2 FTE), guide strategic legal initiatives, and ensure compliance with European laws and regulations. Furthermore, as Legal Manager you will take a hands-on approach and ensure that the legal work is managed efficiently.

What You'll Do:

• Legal Management: Ensure that legal work is provided timely and professionally.

• Team Management: Inspire and lead a high-performing legal team, setting goals, reviewing performance, and fostering personal growth.

• Legal Excellence: Advise on legal matters, oversee contract negotiations, manage corporate housekeeping, and ensure compliance with GDPR, competition laws, and other regulations.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (Compliance, Corporate Sustainability, HR, IT, Finance, etc.) and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.

• Process Optimization: Evaluate and improve legal processes, ensuring efficiency and minimizing risks.

• Knowledge Hub: Stay ahead of legal trends, analyze European laws, and proactively advise management on upcoming changes.

What We are Looking For:

We’re searching for a driven and strategic legal expert who embodies Nikon’s values and is passionate about delivering excellence. Here’s what you’ll bring to the team:

• Master’s degree in Law (Dutch or EU-based).

• Based in the area of Amsterdam with a willingness to travel across Europe.

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Dutch; knowledge of an additional European language is a plus.

• Around 10 years of demonstrable relevant work experience.

• Strong affinity and proven experience with European laws.

• Proven experience with managing a legal function.

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience related to (international) commercial transaction laws, contracting, data protection, competition law, IP and/or corporate law.

• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.

• Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Available to work 5 days a week, with a minimum of 3 days on-site at the office.
