Purpose 

Nikon Europe is seeking a Social Media Specialist to join the European Marketing & Communications team at its headquarters in Amstelveen. This role plays a key part in shaping and executing Nikon’s social media strategy across the European region, working closely with internal stakeholders, local markets and external agencies.

You will lead social media strategy, planning, and day‑to‑day operations across the European region, ensuring campaigns align with industry trends and best practices. Acting as the central point of contact, you will oversee content creation, activations and community management, including brand-risk escalations, in close collaboration with local market teams.

You will be the first point of call regarding strategic planning, social platform strategies including execution of daily social media operations and digital social campaigns following industry trends and best practices. 

You will also be responsible for being the go-to for all social media content creation and activations as well as the main point of contact for community moderation/brand risk escalations that arise on Nikon Europe's social media and shall liaise closely with local market counterparts.

The ideal candidate is an experienced social media professional with strong experience in fast-paced, dynamic international environments and complex matrix organisations. You are comfortable managing agencies, developing integrated social media strategies, content plans, overseeing distribution and promotion across markets in partnership with the Marketing Communications Manager. Furthermore, you bring a strong understanding of the consumer journey, particularly within a D2C context, and support trade marketing by providing and scaling social media assets for B2B use where needed.

This role reports to the Manager Marketing Communications and works closely with the European marketing & communications team, D2C and digital and analytics teams, local social media leads and relevant agencies.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Nikon Europe’s social media strategy to drive engagement, brand awareness, acquisition, and retention

  • Create, manage, distribute and oversee high‑quality social media content and activations aligned with brand and campaign objectives

  • Plan, manage and optimise Social media campaigns in collaboration with Marketing Communications, Digital, D2Cand Commercial teams.

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on social media content and activations aligned with brand and campaign objectives.

  • Creative input and best practice for social specific formats including YT videos, YT shorts, reels and Tik Tok.

  • Manage and coordinate external agencies and tools (e.g. Social media Agencies, publishing and analytics platforms).

  • Supervise social channels including content planning, performance tracking, community management and escalation handling together with the EU social media agency and the pan-EU social teams.

  • Support D2C promotional and product campaigns with targeted social media planning and execution.

  • Support timely resolution of customer inquiries and issues on our social media channels in collaboration with the Customer Service team

  • Act as an internal ambassador for social media and content fostering alignment and transparency across the organisation.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, digital marketing or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years social media experience including strategy, planning and managing content in a European multi-market environment either client side or within an agency setting.

  • Proven experience managing multi-market social platforms (e.g. TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn).

  • Experienced with analytics, social media optimisation and publishing tools like Sprinklr or Social Studio

  • Experience with project management and planning campaigns within an international, matrix organisation

  • Data driven and strong analytical skills with experience using social media analytics, optimisation, and publishing tools (e.g. Sprinklr)

  • Experienced with social media vendor selections and pitching is a plus

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment which a flexible and adaptive nature

  • Solid negotiation and influencing skills, able to present an opinion and support it

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in business English, additional languages are an advantage

  • Strong attention to detail, accurate, adaptable, organised and structured

  • Interest in photography/videography is a plus

  • Willingness to travel as needed within Europe, with the occasional weekend (1-2 x per year max)

  • Willing to work on site (Amstelveen) for a minimum of 3 days per week
