Job description

Information Security Specialist

Business Enablement — Nikon Europe B.V., Amstelveen

Purpose

As Nikon Europe strengthens its security posture and prepares for NIS2 and broader digital transformation challenges, we are expanding a new Information Security team of three specialists based in Amstelveen.

We are looking for an Information Security Specialist to take responsibility for the hands-on implementation and continuous improvement of technical security controls across IT and OT environments. This role focuses on operational security, vulnerability management, incident response, and supporting secure project delivery.

Working alongside an external consulting company, Japanese HQ, and European business stakeholders, you will help turn global frameworks into practical, consistent implementation across multiple Nikon companies.

Role & Department Summary

You will be part of a small, newly formed Information Security team reporting to our IT/Security Manager,, with additional oversight from Information Security Headquarters to ensure global alignment.
You will collaborate closely with local IT teams, shared service centers, and regional business units to implement and maintain security controls, ensuring that all subsidiaries follow a unified approach.

The role fits a structured, implementation-driven environment, strongly influenced by Japanese culture emphasizing control, consistency, careful planning, and operational safety.

Candidates from FMCG, production, manufacturing, logistics, or consumer electronics typically match this environment best — not those with purely banking or insurance backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain security controls and processes across IT/OT environments

  • Conduct technical security assessments and coordinate vulnerability remediation

  • Respond to security incidents, support investigations, and implement corrective actions

  • Review architecture and design of IT projects; ensure secure implementation

  • Deliver awareness training and contribute to ongoing user education

  • Support secure digital transformation and business initiatives

  • Liaise with IT operations and local teams to ensure consistent application of security controls

Job requirements

Required Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in information security or technical security roles

  • Practical knowledge of EDR, SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and other security tools

  • Familiarity with NIST, CIS, CMMC or similar frameworks

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to translate technical risks into business impact

  • Skilled communicator able to work in multicultural environments

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are preferred

Culture & Working Style

  • Structured, methodical, and focused on quality

  • Documentation, transparency, and step-by-step progress are essential

  • Safety, stability, and compliance over shortcuts or improvisation

  • Creativity and initiative are welcome, but within HQ frameworks

  • Collaboration with Japan and cross-functional teamwork are key success factors

Why Nikon?

You will help protect the technology behind one of the world’s most iconic brands. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on, implement meaningful improvements, and contribute to a unified European security landscape — within a supportive, international, and culturally rich environment.
