Job description

Head of Information Security, Europe

Business Enablement Nikon Europe B.V.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Nikon is a world-leading provider of Optical products and services. Renowned for its innovative optics technology across consumer and professional cameras, system accessories, and healthcare solutions, Nikon has been setting global standards in design and performance for over a century. As we embrace the future of digital transformation and data-driven business, our commitment to safeguarding information and customer trust is paramount.

Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Head of Information & Cyber Security, Europe to provide strategic vision, governance, and leadership for our information security function across Nikon Europe B.V. and affiliated group companies throughout Europe. This is a pan-European, high-impact leadership role based at our European Regional Headquarters in Amstelveen, responsible for ensuring a robust, risk-driven, and compliant security posture while aligning with global standards and representing security at the executive level.

Role & Department Summary

Nikon Europe is establishing a new Information Security function at its European Regional Headquaters to support all Nikon group companies across the region. Although still small — ultimately a team of three based in the Amstelveen headquarters — the department plays a highly strategic role. You will report directly to our Japanese IT/Security Manager, with a dotted-line connection to Japan’s Information Security Headquarters, ensuring alignment with global standards, governance, and corporate expectations.

The organisation is currently implementing NIS2 and strengthening its overall security and compliance posture. This aligns closely with the Japanese corporate culture, where safety, structure, consistency, and control are foundational values. Nikon has engaged an external consulting company to help design and formalize the security framework, and your role will be pivotal in translating that framework into real-world implementation across multiple Nikon companies in Europe.

What We’re Looking For

We seek someone with experience in FMCG, production, manufacturing, logistics, or consumer electronics — environments where operational security, risk management, and structured implementation are key.
We do not seek candidates whose background is primarily in banking or insurance, as those environments are highly regulated and conceptual in ways that do not match the practical, execution-driven culture at Nikon.

In this role, you will:

·         Help shape and execute the roadmap for NIS2 compliance and broader security governance

·         Roll out policies, standards, and controls across European subsidiaries

·         Convert framework and strategy (designed with an external consulting company  and HQ) into practical, consistent implementation

·         Ensure alignment with HQ policies, boundaries, and global direction

·         Help build a strong, compliant, and sustainable security posture for the entire region

·         This is a role for someone who knows how to implement, not just design.

·         Develop and execute the regional information security vision and long-term strategy

·         Define, implement, and enforce security governance, policies, and organizational standards

·         Lead regulatory and risk management initiatives, ensuring compliance (GDPR, NIS2, etc.)

·         Oversee major incident management, escalation, and post-incident review

·         Serve as the primary liaison with Global HQ and local CISOs, acting as the face of security in Europe

·         Set and monitor departmental KPIs, driving continuous performance improvement

·         Lead, mentor, and develop the regional security team, fostering a culture of excellence and engagement

In essence

You will join a new yet crucial team, with strong guidance from Japanese HQ and support from an external consulting company , tasked with implementing NIS2 and a unified security framework across Europe. You will help build something new, but not alone, and not from scratch. Execution strength, alignment, and consistency are the keys to success.

Job requirements

Required Profile

·         Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field

·         10+ years of experience in information/cyber security, including senior leadership roles in a multinational or regional context

·         Recognized security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are highly preferred

·         Deep understanding of risk management, regulatory environments, and security governance

·         Proven experience in incident management, executive stakeholder engagement, and cross-cultural team leadership

·         Excellent English communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

 Why Nikon?

At Nikon, we don’t just develop cutting-edge technology – we’re driven by a philosophy of innovation, collaboration, and respect for people and the planet. As a Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in advancing Nikon’s mission while working with a team that champions integrity, creativity, and teamwork.

Culture & Working Style

Japanese corporate culture strongly influences how Nikon operates. This means:

Safety, compliance, and control come first

Work is structured, documented, and methodical

Long-term reliability is valued over rapid experimentation

Team harmony and respect are essential

Creativity is appreciated — as long as it fits within established frameworks and HQ strategy

This is not a role for someone seeking total freedom to create their own security model.
It is a role for someone who thrives on structure, clarity, cross-cultural collaboration, and implementing governance frameworks across multinational organizations

  • A challenging and rewarding role in a globally recognized organization.

  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
